Sept 14 Super intent Updates Graphic

Good afternoon Warren Students, Families, and Staff,

We have a couple of important announcements for the week of September 14th.

I want to give a big shout-out and thank you to all of our Warren Council PTA, parent volunteers, community vendors, students, families, and Warren staff who helped make last week’s Homefest a great experience for everyone! All of the money raised on this night supports each Warren school’s PTA.

A second shout-out goes to Lowell Elementary for winning the 2022 Fun Run Trophy for most runners participating in the Fun Run. They had over 50 of the 130 runners who took part in the event. Way to go, Team Lowell. You have set the bar high for next year’s Homefest.

Attention all of our 7th and 8th-grade families. Has your student completed their application for the 21st Century Scholar Program? This scholarship provides up to four years of undergraduate tuition to income-eligible students at any public Indiana College or University. Students must apply in 7th or 8th grade, and you do not want to miss out on this opportunity. Plan to come to Raymond Park Intermediate Middle School on Thursday, September 22nd at 6 pm to learn about the scholarship and complete the application. Support from each school’s counselors, and community organizations, including translation services, will be available. All MSD Warren 7th and 8th-grade families are invited to attend. In order to complete the application, the family needs the student’s date of birth, social security number, and address. For the parent, only a valid email address and a social security number or Tax ID number if available. If you have questions, please reach out to your student’s school counselor.

Another reminder that textbook rental invoices will be sent to families for this school year. To apply for textbook rental assistance, please visit www.lunchapplication.com. Paper applications are available at your child’s school. To be considered for assistance, applications for free textbooks must be submitted no later than September 30th. The district will begin sending invoices in early September, including instructions for how to pay for those families who do not qualify for assistance. If you have questions, please contact Linda Sponsel 869-4300.

The Moorhead Community Resource Center will be offering families and staff free and fresh produce each Tuesday from 6-7 pm throughout the month of September. The produce is being provided by Indy Urban Acres and United Methodist Church.

Please save the date for the Latino Heritage Festival, also being held at the Moorhead Community Resource Center on Saturday, September 24th, from 1 - 6 pm. Please see the attached flyer for additional information.

Please begin marking your calendars for our two very important upcoming dates. Our fall intersession break begins Monday, October 3rd, and ends Friday, October 14th. Students will resume school on Monday, October 17th. The second important upcoming date is Parent Teacher Conferences on Thursday, October 20th. This is a no school day for students so that parents and teachers can meet.

Have a great rest of your week, and thank you for your continued investment in Warren students, school, and staff.

Together…#WarrenWill grow our students!
